And we're off! We begin our road trip in the lively town of Chepstow, a former mediaeval powerhouse on the border between Wales and England. The charming town rests strategically, overlooking the River Wye, and serves as a gateway to the Wye Valley. We'll explore the imposing fortress, one of Britain's oldest surviving stone castles, and dive into centuries of history. The hauntingly beautiful Tintern Abbey, a short drive from the town, is a must-see, especially for our readers who enjoy gothic architecture set against the beautiful Wye Valley. Hop on the M4 and rumble over to our second stop, just 50 minutes away - the vibrant and creative town of Caerphilly. Famed for its majestic castle and rich heritage, this stunning settlement has plenty to explore on a road trip to South Wales. We'll Start at the town's centrepiece, exploring Caerphilly Castle, the largest in Wales and one of the most impressive fortresses in Europe. Next, we swap history for scenery, hiking up Caerphilly Mountain for panoramic views of the town and fresh air. Part 3: Llantwit Major

Stay on the M4 to reach our third stop via a quick 45-minute drive. We’re here to uncover a charming coastal town Llantwit Major in the Vale of Glamorgan, famed for its rich history, scenic beauty and warm, welcoming atmosphere. The main focus is the gorgeous pebble beach, backed by dramatic cliffs. We’ll highlight the best spots to hunt for fossils, excellent rock formations and caves, and lovely rock pooling corners. Our fourth stop leads to the stunning Glamorgan Heritage Coast, a gorgeous 14-mile stretch of unspoilt coastline just 16 minutes from Llantwit Major. Look forward to breathtaking scenery, lovely beaches and spectacular wildlife to entertain all ages. We’ll help you decide which beach to lounge on, explore a range of beautiful walking routes, stop at iconic lighthouses, and visit Sites of Special Scientific Interest.     Stop number five is the longest drive on our South Wales road trip, taking us from the beautiful Glamorgan Heritage Coast to the Gower on just over an hour's drive via the M4. The Gower Peninsula needs no introduction and is renowned for its stunning landscapes comprising coastal scenery, glorious beaches, and historical attractions. As the first-ever designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK, you can expect a cornucopia of attractions and activities to enjoy. Our Gower itinerary will explore one of the best beaches in the world, Rhossili Bay, a stunning three-mile stretch of golden sands backed by sweeping cliffs. We'll explore an iconic landmark of Three Cliffs Bay, lounge on the sandy shores of Oxwich Bay, and explore the Worm's Head headland during the low tide. We'll show you the best hikes in the area, including the route up Llanmadoc Hill, and dive into beautiful beaches. Join us as we hike the highest peak in southern Britain, Pen y Fan, explore a range of stunning waterfalls, soak in the scenery on a steam engine, indulge in water-based frolics on the largest natural lake in South Wales, and potter around picturesque villages. Hop on the A40 from the Brecon Beacons and take a 1 hour, 16-minute drive to this vibrant settlement; I look forward to a trip filled with adventures. We’ll take you around Abergavenny Castle, a stunning 11th-century fortress, climb the popular Sugar Loaf Mountain, and explore the romantic ruins of Llanthony Priory.
